Unlock Instructions for Some Huawei Pocket WiFi/MiFi/USB Modems

Once you have your unlock code, you will need to find a way to enter the code into your device in order to unlock it. Your device may have different dashboard/connection software interface due to customized features for your network. Below are some examples which may help you to figure out how to bring up the unlock page.

Unlock Instructions for Huawei E585/E585U-82/E586/E5331 Mobile WiFi/MiFi:

1) Insert a non-Current Provider Network (e.g. non-Vodafone SIM for Vodafone Network, non-Optus SIM for Optus Network) SIM card into the device. (Current Provider Network is the network that the device locked to).

2) Ensure the device is charged and then switch the device on. It will display “Invalid SIM”

3) Establish a WiFi connection to the device with your PC/IPAD/IPHONE/Android Device.

4) Any of the following methods:

  • Browse any website and you will be redirected to 192.168.1.1/simlock.asp and prompted to input the 8 digits unlock code. Or you can try to access 192.168.1.1/simlock.asp directly to input the unlock code. Once you key in the unlock code and the modem will reset itself. Your modem is now unlocked.
  • Access and login to your device’s dashboard at http://192.168.1.1 or http://pocket.wifi then go to Advanced Settings -> SIM Settings  -> Unlock Device -> Enter Unlock Code -> Click Apply. This should unlock your device.

Once your device is unlocked, you will need to set up APN Profile for the network. You can find the APN Settings instructions at http://www.unlockguru.com/?p=200

Unlock Instructions for Huawei E583C Mobile WiFi/MiFi:

1) Insert a non-Current Provider Network (e.g. non-Vodafone SIM for Vodafone Network, non-Optus SIM for Optus Network) SIM card into the device. (Current Provider Network is the network that the device locked to)

2) Ensure the device is charged and then switch the device on. It will display “Invalid SIM”

3) Establish a WiFi connection to the device with your PC/IPAD/IPHONE/Android Device.

4) Login to your device dashboard at http://192.168.1.1 with a web browser.

5) Open your Settings – > Dial-up -> Unlock SIM card -> Enter the 8 digits unlock code.   Click OK and the device will reboot to display the new network.

In step 5, Due to different network dashboards so the wording may be different. It may be Advanced Settings -> SIM Settings -> Unlock Device etc. Just look around the settings on your device dashboard, you should able to find the field to input the unlock code. Please don’t put the unlock code in the SIM PIN field.

You can also try to see if you can access this page http://192.168.1.1/simlock.asp directly to enter the unlock code.

Unlock Instructions for Huawei USB Modems/Dongles such as Huawei E303, E353:

1) Insert a non-Current Provider Network (e.g. non-Vodafone SIM for Vodafone Network, non-Optus SIM for Optus Network) SIM card into the device. (Current Provider Network is the network that the device locked to)

2) Plug the USB dongle to your computer USB port. Install the dongle driver and connection software/mobile partner if you haven’t done so.

3) Launch the connection software/mobile partner and it will prompt you for the unlock code. Enter the 8 digits unlock code.

Huawei Unlock Code Writer Programs:
If none of the above methods worked for you, you can try the following programs (PC Only):
Huawei Modem Code Writer – Hotfile or Bayfiles
Huawei CardLock-Unlock v1006 – Hotfile or Bayfiles

Steps:
1) Download any of the above programs and extract the files into a folder.
2) Insert an invalid SIM to your modem/MiFi.
3) Connect your modem/MiFi to your computer via USB. Power it on and make sure your modem driver is installed to the PC.
4) Run the Unlock Code Writer program. If it can detect your modem port and information, you should able to enter the unlock code to the modem via the program. If the program can’t detect your modem, then you are not able to use the program to enter the unlock code.

For Huawei E583C APN Profile Settings:

1) Login to your device’s dashboard at http://192.168.1.1 and go to Settings/Tools.

2) Choose Dial-up/Options -> Profile Management And click NEW.

3) Put in the Profile Name and APN. Choose “static” for APN. If your network requires username and password, enter accordingly. Put *99# in the Dial-up Number if required. Just leave blank in all other fields.

4) Click Save to save profile.

5) Now go to Mobile Connection -> Select the new profil from the Profile List and choose Apply.

If everything set up correctly, you should able to surf the net now.

Your device’s dashboard may be a bit different with the above settings, so you may need to look around to figure how to set up the APN profile.
